Qualifications:Elizabeth has practiced as a counselling psychologist and organisational psychologist since 2011, gaining her Master of Organisational Psychology from the University of Queensland.
She has run her own private practice, working with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, bereavement, Borderline Personality Disorder, the psychology of weight management and relationship counselling. As an organisational psychologist, Elizabeth has gained extensive experience as a workplace mediator and workshop facilitator on such topics as stress management, work life balance, communication in teams and professional identity.
Elizabeth completed her PhD in communication and professional identity in healthcare at the University of Queensland in 2019 and has a research interest in communication skills in the workplace and social identity.
Elizabeth previously completed her Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) at the University of South Australia and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from King’s College, London University.
Approach to Therapy:Whilst Elizabeth has been trained in humanistic, psychodynamic, positive psychology and CBT approaches to therapy, she has a special interest in taking a neuro-psychotherapeutic approach to her work with clients. This means that she considers how a client’s mental state is informed by their neurobiology as well as cognitive, emotional, social and environmental issues. Elizabeth focuses on educating her clients on how their brain function is impacted by factors such as diet, exercise, relationships and environment, as well as their past experiences and upbringing. This means that clients are equipped with a greater understanding of their own response to environmental triggers and the means to reduce the psychological symptoms. Above all, Elizabeth prioritises the therapeutic relationship with clients, striving to create a safe and trusted place for them to explore their psychological issues, reduce symptoms and improve their overall well-being

Whilst Elizabeth has expertise in treating a wide range of psychological issues, she has a special interest in alleviating the impact of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss for clients, as well as using psychological principles to help clients address weight management. Elizabeth has over 8 years experience as a couples counsellor.
Anxiety, Trauma and Depression
Elizabeth has many years experience of using evidence based techniques to help clients address anxiety and depression. She utilises both EMDR and EFT to reduce their sense of emotional overwhelm and ease somatic symptoms, taking an approach that integrates the mind/body connection. This involves an examination of how health related behaviours impact clients’ mental health. She supports clients by equipping them with psychological tools to manage their symptoms and work towards well being and fulfilment.
Elizabeth has extensive experience in assisting clients address weight management issues. She uses evidence based psychological techniques to help clients reduce food cravings and address body image issues. She integrates an understanding of both the biological and psychological factors that inform clients’ weight issues, in order to assist them to change health related behaviours.
Grief and Loss
Elizabeth has a deep understanding of the impact of bereavement, and has a special interest in supporting clients manage this traumatic experience. In particular, she has a focus on parental bereavement and how this impacts one’s sense of purpose in life, well being and adaptation to the loss.
With over 8 years experience as a couples counsellor, Elizabeth draws on evidence based psychological approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy to equip clients to work through issues in their relationships. Because relationship problems can inform a pattern of interaction which is confronting for clients to manage, Elizabeth employs communication and psychological skills to assist clients identify their emotional responses and negative patterns of interaction. She uses communication skills training to help clients adjust their unhelpful communication
As an organisational psychologist, Elizabeth has assisted clients address workplace issues such as stress management, bullying, time management, workplace conflict and career planning and transition. She has supported clients and organisations manage workplace change, and incorporates psychological principles to help them address performance issues, leadership programmes and team functioning. Her research on the role of social identity in the workplace has informed a special
interest in conflict management, team effectiveness and incident analysis in high risk organisations and she has worked in this area in healthcare teams.
