Qualifications:Lindy is a registered Psychologist with 20 years' experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families predominantly in educational and community sectors as well as private practice. Lindy is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society and has extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of mental health and neurodevelopmental issues, including learning disorders such as dyslexia, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), anxiety, behavior management, trauma and intellectual impairment. Lindy's special interests include working with children who have ASD, helping children cope with adjustment, anxiety and bullying, as well as assisting them with regard to emotional regulation and building resilience to achieve positive outcomes at home and school – both behaviourally and academically. Parenting support also is pivotal to Lindy's therapeutic interventions with children and adolescents. This includes skills training and guidance with regard to behaviour management, attachment difficulties and family breakdown. She is also an accredited Triple P Positive Parenting facilitator.
As well as working in the area of child, adolescent and family therapy, Lindy has an interest in working with adults to achieve a greater work/life balance. She also has a strong interest in health psychology (weight management; positive well-being) and forensic psychology – currently completing a Master of Forensic Mental Health at Griffith University.
Approach to Therapy:Lindy uses evidence-based therapeutic interventions that include cognitive behaviour therapy, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, interpersonal psychotherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution focused therapy, psychoeducation, mindfulness and relaxation and stress management skills training and behavior analysis. Lindy is trained and experienced in the administration of Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule 2. Lindy can also use expressive therapies such as sand play therapy and art therapy in her work with children and young people.
Lindy is committed to building safe, respectful and trusting relationships with all her clients to assist them in achieving goals and positive outcomes in their lives. Individualising interventions to meet the client's specific needs is always of the utmost importance to her practise.
