Philip has been a Registered Psychologist since 1991, after completing his qualifications at the University of Queensland.
He has worked in a wide range of settings as a psychologist – in Queensland prisons, as a Forensic Psychologist for Statewide Forensic Services in Victoria and in Queensland Health’s Addiction and Mental Health Services.
He worked for 12 years at Centrelink in a management role for a team of allied health professionals.
He recently spent 18 months managing clients under Drug and Alcohol Treatment Orders at the Brisbane Magistrate’s Court.
Philip is qualified in the Supervisor Training and Accreditation Program and has supervised many provisional psychologists.
 
Approach to Therapy:
 
Philip has knowledge and experience in counselling clients in a one-to-one or group basis. He has an ability to motivate clients to improve their outlook and help create and maintain change in their lives.
The treatment modalities he uses are acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, psychopharmacology, cognitive behaviour therapy, schema focused therapy, dual diagnosis and dialectical behaviour therapy.
 
Main Areas of Interest:
 
Philip’s main interest areas are in counselling clients with substance abuse disorders and other addictive behaviours.
Other specializations include working with clients with personality disorders and treatment resistant clients with complex issues
