Take the JUMP! Improve your Ability to Manage Chronic Pain and Injury
The group program is suitable for adults and utilises strategies from both a CBT perspective and a mindfulness approach to better equip the individual with the tools that may work best for them. Sessions will include identification of the injury and chronic pain recovery process from acute, sub-acute to chronic stages. Identification of thoughts, feelings and physiological responses to injury and pain and how to manage it. Other sessions will include breathing, relaxation and mindfulness, activity pacing and how to adjust to injury. This program aims improve the individual’s ability to cope and manage their injury and pain cycle, and in turn improve their emotional well-being and quality of life.
Improve your Emotional Wellbeing through the art of Relaxation, Meditation and Mindfulness
The group program will include a range of relaxation, meditation and mindfulness techniques with the aim of better managing emotional distress, anxiety, chronic pain and depression. Topics include breathing techniques, grounding techniques, mindfulness, meditation, guided imagery relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation. This program aims to reduce emotional, cognitive and physiological distress and improve emotional wellbeing.
Break through the Cycle of Depression
The group program will include cognitive behavioural therapy interventions such as symptom management and identification of depression types, core beliefs and managing negative thoughts, managing the lethargy cycle and need for behavioural activation of pleasurable activities through specific goal setting, mood management and relapse prevention. This programs aims to increase the individual’s ability to cope and break through the depression cycle.
Learn to Manage Anxiety
The group program will include cognitive behavioural therapy interventions such as symptom management and identification of anxiety type, core beliefs and managing worrying thoughts, managing uncomfortable emotions, fear hierarchy and systematic desensitisation via exposure therapy, identifying avoidance and working with resistance. This programs aims to increase the individual’s ability to cope and manage with anxiety by reducing anxiety avoidance behaviours.
12 Week Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Group Program
The group program will follow the DBT training manual by The DBT Institute (AUST). Five core skill modules will be taught including Dialectics and Validation, Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Emotion Regulation.
